328 Illegal Arms Seized in Joint Security Operation –

In a major crackdown on illegal arms hoarders, a team of Manipur Police and other security agencies conducted a massive search operation in the outskirts of five valley districts last night and recovered 328 illegal arms.
 

According to the Police report, after receiving specific intelligence regarding the presence of a large cache of arms and ammunition, a joint team of Manipur Police, CAPFs, Army/AR conducted the operation and 328 illegal arms along with ammunitions, explosives and warlike stores were recovered by the team. Among the recovered arms were 151 SLR rifle, 65 INSAS rifle, 73 rifles, 5 Carbine gun, 12 LMG, 6 AK series rifle, 2 Amogh rifle, 1 Mortar, 6 Pistol, 2 Barrel, 1 AR-15 and 2 Flare gun. 591 Magazines, 3534 SLR rounds, 2186 INSAS rounds, 2252 rounds of Three-naught-three” (or “.303”) rifles, 234 AK rounds, 407 Amogh rounds, 20 9 mm rounds, 10 Grenades, 3 Lathod, 7 Detonators and 3 Para were also recovered during the operation.
 

The report further said that the senior police officers are in close coordination with all security agencies to ensure that such operations continue in a sustained and focused manner to restore normalcy, maintain public order and ensure the safety and security of citizens and their properties. The Manipur Police also appealed public to cooperate with the Police and Security Forces and report any suspicious activities or other information related to illegal weapons to the nearest Police Station or the Central Control Room.
