185 youths get job under DDUGKY Job Mela

A job fair was held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala today under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Koushal Yojana. Dr. Sandeep Rathore, secretary of rural development department inaugurated the job fair.

A total of 10 private agencies came to take interview of the youths trained under Kaushal Yojana. Through this interview a total of 185 youths of the state received appointment letter. Among them 27 candidates have been appointed in the state only and the rest 158 have been appointed outside the state.

Inaugurating the job fair the RD secretary said, the central government has launched this scheme to facilitate training of rural youths for their job viability. He urged those who got appointment today to carry out their job responsibility sincerely and wished them success in their service.

Trained under DDU-GKY, Kumila Debbarma, Simpa Roy, Piyali Mitra and Jahengir Hussain, who are now employed, shared about their experiences at the event. The guests also handed over job letters to a few trainees during the programme. State’s scheme implementing organisation representatives were also felicitated. 

The Yojana was started in 2014 by the Ministry of Rural Development for employment of youths between 18-35 years from the rural areas and poor background based on their skills. 

Residential training Centres provide training on various employment related courses for 3 months, 6 months and 9 months to the candidates. 

As many as 9,712 youths in Tripura have been trained till July, 2022 under this scheme. Among them, 3,945 are currently employed in different organisations in the state as well as outside the state.

District Magistrate of West Tripura Debapriya Bardhan, as a special guest, also wished success to the job candidates. Welcome address was delivered by the chief executive officer of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission Dr. Vishal Kumar. Vote of thanks was given by additional CEO of TRLM Subhash Chandra Saha. Director of Skill Development department Sanjoy Chakraborty also spoke on the occasion as special guest.
