In Jammu & Kashmir, at least 17 Amarnath Yatris sustained injuries after three buses collided with each other along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near TachLoo area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
All the injured are residents of Madhya Pradesh and were on way to Baltal Base Camp in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal told Akashwani News that the accident occurred when one of the buses lost control and rammed into two other vehicles.
Following the accident, the injured were immediately shifted to Qaimoh Hospital and subsequently shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for further treatment.
Officials said most of the Yatris sustained minor injuries. Their condition is stated to be stable. Two Yatris who suffered head injuries have been put on specialized treatment.
SSP added that after receiving medical treatment, the Yatris were shifted into another vehicle and moved towards Baltal Base Camp for their onward journey towards Cave Shrine.
Meanwhile, J&K Police have initiated enquiry into the incident.
