A total of 1,449 Tripura youths have completed the first phase of the Digital Employability Enhancement Program (DSD-DEEP) and received skill development certificates under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme, strengthening digital literacy and employment opportunities across the state.
In a step towards strengthening digital skills and improving youth employability, 1,449 young men and women from across Tripura have successfully completed the first phase of the Digital Employability Enhancement Program (DSD-DEEP) and received certificates under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme.
The certificates were distributed during a programme organised at the conference hall of the Directorate of Skill Development on Wednesday. The initiative is designed to equip young jobseekers with practical, industry-relevant digital competencies and prepare them for employment opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
According to information released by the Directorate of Skill Development, the first phase of DSD-DEEP is being implemented through MKCL and covers a total of 2,000 trainees across Tripura. Training is being provided through 20 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and seven private computer centres, helping young people access career-oriented digital education in different parts of the state.
All 2,000 seats available under the programme have already been filled, reflecting strong demand among young people for digital learning and employment-focused training. Of the enrolled candidates, 1,449 have completed the course successfully and received certificates so far.
The programme aims to reduce the digital skills gap and help young people develop capabilities that are increasingly important in modern workplaces. With businesses, offices and service-sector organisations relying heavily on computers, smartphones and digital platforms, digital proficiency has become an essential requirement for many employment opportunities.
The DSD-DEEP course comprises 120 hours of structured training, with a curriculum focused on practical and job-oriented subjects. Key areas include data management using Microsoft Excel, DEEP-ITS, mobile application development, desktop publishing and Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI).
Through these modules, participants receive training in spreadsheet operations, digital document preparation, mobile applications and financial services-related technologies. The curriculum is intended to provide hands-on experience with tools commonly used in professional environments and help trainees become more familiar with everyday digital workplace tasks.
Officials said the initiative seeks to align the skills of aspiring jobseekers with changing industry requirements. By combining practical learning with digital education, the programme is expected to improve employment prospects in offices, commercial establishments and service-sector organisations across Tripura and other parts of the country.
The training may also help participants explore self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Digital knowledge can support small businesses, online services, financial transactions and the use of technology for day-to-day commercial activities. For young people seeking to enter the workforce, such skills can complement existing technical and vocational qualifications.
The programme also reflects the growing importance of making digital education accessible to young people close to their places of residence. By conducting training through ITIs and private computer centres, the initiative provides multiple learning locations for candidates seeking to strengthen their professional capabilities.
The Directorate of Skill Development is now preparing to introduce the second phase of DSD-DEEP in the near future. Following the response to the initial phase, authorities are working to restructure the curriculum to make it more beneficial for ITI students.
The proposed changes will focus on integrating digital competencies with technical trades, helping students combine their vocational knowledge with the technology skills increasingly required across industries. This approach is expected to strengthen their employment readiness and provide a better foundation for career development.
The integration of digital learning with technical education is particularly important as workplaces increasingly adopt digital tools for production, communication, data management and business operations. Developing these skills alongside trade-specific expertise can help young people adapt to changing job requirements.

The Directorate congratulated all successful trainees on completing the first phase and receiving their certificates. It expressed confidence that the knowledge gained through the programme would help participants pursue better career opportunities and contribute to Tripura’s growing digital economy.
With all 2,000 seats filled in the first phase and preparations underway for the next stage, the DSD-DEEP initiative represents an effort to expand digital education, strengthen workforce readiness and create more opportunities for the state’s youth through skill development.
