In a significant development ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, more than 1300 voters from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Congress have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the 8-Town Bordowali constituency. The move is seen as a major boost for the saffron party’s electoral prospects.
Welcoming the new members to the BJP, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude and encouraged them to embrace the spirit of service (Seva). He highlighted that the main motto of BJP workers is to work for the betterment of the people and urged the newcomers to work with dedication and foster cordial relations with the common citizens. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the ‘Sampark Se Samarthan’ (Connectivity for Support) campaign to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Chief Minister, the 1309 voters joined BJP due to their inspiration from the development goals set by the Prime Minister. He called upon the newcomers to work sincerely for the party’s success and contribute to realizing the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ (One India, Great India) envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
During the mega joining programme, Dr. Saha strongly criticized the Congress and CPIM parties for their oppressive governance in Tripura. He highlighted that the people have finally escaped the clutches of misrule since the formation of the BJP-led government. The Chief Minister noted that such a massive gathering of any political party had never taken place previously in the 8-Town Bordowali Assembly Constituency.
Dr. Saha pointed out that the previous MLA representing the constituency failed to focus on its development, and the people had elected him but were misguided. However, they have now realized that true development is only possible with BJP and Narendra Modi at the helm. The Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on the CPIM and Congress for their misrule, mentioning the culture of violence, terrorism, and other atrocities that marked the Communist party’s 35-year rule in Tripura.
He further asserted that the frustration of the Congress and CPIM stems from the fact that the people no longer support them. Dr. Saha highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President J.P. Nadda have instructed party workers to establish cordial relations with the public through the vision of ‘Sampark Se Samarthan.’
The Chief Minister urged BJP workers to rise above political affiliations and ensure the provision of basic amenities such as housing, water connections, and other services to the common public.
The joining programme witnessed the presence of BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, BJP State General Secretary Papia Datta, and other prominent leaders. With the influx of over 1300 voters from the CPM and Congress, the BJP’s electoral prospects have received a significant boost, setting the stage for a competitive battle in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections
