Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that 11 years of Narendra Modi government witnessed a major shift in the trend of recruitment in civil services. In an exclusive interview with Doordarshan News, Dr Singh said that, at one time, the IAS and other civil services were largely confined to a handful of states, including Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. But today toppers also come from the States like Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, which earlier hardly figured in the civil services list of toppers. He added that this shift has restored faith in the objectivity and equal opportunities offered by the system.
Dr. Singh also emphasized that the past 11 years have been transformational for India. He reaffirmed India’s leadership in space and biotechnology, highlighting the country’s growing global stature in science and innovation. Dr. Singh further shared that India is steadily progressing towards establishing its own Bharat Antariksh Station by 2035, a significant milestone in the nation’s space ambitions. He emphasized that the world is now actively collaborating with India and recognizing its scientific capabilities, a testament to the country’s rise as a trusted science partner globally.
