Six representatives of the 10,323 terminated teachers expressed satisfaction over their meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday.

A team of the terminated teachers went to meet the Chief Minister as scheduled to reiterate their demand of reappointment.

The meeting was planned following Chief Minister’s assurance to the Assembly that he would meet the delegation of 10,323 sacked teachers soon. He was speaking in the House even as the teachers staged an Assembly March and was porevented by the police – and many of the teachers were injured in the police actions on September 26 last.

Dr Saha gave a patient hearing to their points while Advocate General Siddhartha De and Law secretary BP Palit were also present in the meeting.

After meeting with the Chief Minister one teacher told media that Dr Saha appeared very positive and sympathetic about their issue and he assured them that he would look into the matter on priority basis after puja.

We pointed out that jobs of those who had not been made party in the final judgment of the Supreme Court could very well be saved by the state government by segregating them, said a representative of the team to the media after meeting with the Chief Minister.

“The Chief Minister told us that he would hold a meeting in an extended forum to discuss the issue. We are hopeful that the Chief Minister would take effective steps to save our jobs. The Advocate General and the Law Secretary were also present during the meeting,” the representative told the media.

The 10,323 terminated teachers ( the number is actually less than the oft referred 10323) included 1103 PGTs and 4616 GTs of 2010, 4600 UGTs of 2013-14 and 4 Science Teachers of 2012.
