Central and state governments have taken different steps for the development of agriculture and the welfare of farmers. The government is working on plans to accustom farmers to scientific farming, said Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Pranajit Singha Roy while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Agri Market Shed at Dashamighat in Ambassa, 100 MT Capacity Fertilizer and Seed Warehouse in Salema, Salema Farmer Advisory Centre and Kachucherra Primary Rural Market Shed.

The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare interacted with the farmers at the opening ceremony in Kachucherra. The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare highlighted all the programmes undertaken by the State Government for the welfare of farmers. 60 lakh 28 thousand 500 rupees have been spent on the construction of Agri Market Shed at Dashamighat in Ambassa. Rs 41.28 lakh have been spent on the construction of 100 MT capacity fertilizer and seed storage in Salema. Rs 60. 29 lakh have been spent on the construction of rural market shed in Kachucherra.

At the inaugural programme in Salema, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Pranajit Singha Roy said, “Our state is dependent on agriculture, economy will develop only if agriculture develops”. Therefore, the government has given highest priority to the development of agriculture. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought a new direction in the development of agriculture in the country.

The state government is also working in that direction. The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said that the government has also given importance to the marketing of crops produced in the state. The benefits of MSP, Pradhan Mantri Fasal BimaYojana, PM Kisan scheme are being extended to the farmers of the state. Recently, the government has decided to purchase paddy from the farmers at a subsidized price of Rs 20.40. The farmers of the state are getting the benefits. Not only to create domestic market, but the government has also taken several steps to export the produce of the state to different states of the country and abroad. Already, pineapple, lemon, jackfruit and queen pineapple varieties produced in the state have been exported to other states of the country and abroad. On the occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said that the government is working on a plan for the overall development of the state.

MLA Swapna Das Pal and Sahakari Sabhadhipati of Dhalai Zilla Parishad Anadi Sarkar spoke among others at the programme in Salema and Kachucherra. Vice Chairperson of Ambassa Municipal Council Gopal Sutradhar, Chairman of Salema Panchayat Samiti Sujit Biswas, Chairman of Salema BAC  Bimal Debbarma and others were present on the occasion. Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Sharadindu Das delivered the welcome speech.
