A copy of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita was presented to the Parliament of Sri Lanka today. A 100-member delegation led by Gita Manshi Swami Gyanandji, Swami Gurusharanandji, officials of Kurukshetra Development Board, and High Commissioner of India Santosh Jha presented a copy of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

On the occasion, Mr. Abeywardena expressed gratitude and said that Bhagavad Gita was not just for Bharat but for the entire humanity. He added that if all humans could get the message of Bhagavad Gita, problems would not exist today.

Preferring to refer to India as Bharat, Mr. Abeywardena said that Sri Lanka has been following Bharat’s tradition through a great son of Bharat, Lord Buddha. He added that Sri Lanka had been a part of Bharat at one stage.
