In Kenya, at least ten people were killed and 29 injured in Kenya as security forces clashed with protesters. According to media reports, the unrest, affecting 17 counties, also saw two abductions and 37 arrests yesterday. Businesses in major towns shut down amid fears of looting, with incidents reported in six counties. Government offices were torched in central Kenya. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights accused police of defying a court order by remaining unidentified. Transport and healthcare access were disrupted by roadblocks. The latest unrest follows deadly protests in June that left 19 dead and over 400 injured. The protests stem from a broader wave of unrest sparked by a controversial finance bill last year that raised taxes during a cost-of-living crisis. Though the bill was scrapped in June last year, public anger has intensified following the recent deaths of a teacher in police custody and an unarmed street vendor shot by police.
