In Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist was killed as special forces of the Army were mobilised to neutralise a group of recently infiltrated ultras who attacked an army ambulance in Battal village of Akhnoor sector in Jammu today.

Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the body of the terrorist along with weapons has been recovered. The action came after the terrorists, believed to be three in number, opened fire on an ambulance which was part of the army convoy around 6 AM. The Army personnel in the ambulance had a close shave as the terrorists, who recently infiltrated this side, managed to escape to a nearby forest in the face of a strong retaliation by the troops.

An operation to trace and neutralise the militants was started and reinforcements were rushed to the area. The ambulance was hit by nearly a dozen bullets. The Special Forces and the National Security Guards (NSG) were mobilised, leading to deafening explosions and intense gunfire around 2.45 PM.

A helicopter was also seen hovering for surveillance. The ambush attempt by the terrorists failed after which a cordon operation was started in the area. Firing exchanges have now started between the terrorists and the security forces. All exit points of the terrorists have been sealed. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area. More details are awaited.
